Wall lights solve the problems ceiling fixtures cannot. They light a hallway without glare overhead, free up the bedside table completely, and wash a wall with the kind of soft light that makes a room feel finished.
Mounting height is the thing to get right. Beside a bed, aim for roughly 150–160cm from the floor or just above the shoulder when sitting up. In a hallway, about 160–170cm, spaced two to two-and-a-half metres apart, gives even light without hot spots.
